This is a rather well made study piece, reminiscent of the works of the old masters. As such, it's strengths are not in it's character or subject, but in it's technique and execution. In comparison to the original, the subject seems to be happier, yet due to the lack of stronger lines, more ethereal. The lighting and shadows are very well executed, yet the area around the forward facing eye appears slightly weak. From that one point, a disruptive effect seems to radiate outwards. In a sense, this can be said to add a degree of uniqueness to the art, beyond just a simple imitation. The artist clearly has a good degree of background and respect for the original piece, and shows an advanced level of skill in replicating the main aspects of said original. As stated before, it is well done as a study, and a testament to the artist's skill, but lacks slightly in the artist's own personal flair for the sake of authenticity.
